PASH ...With A Twist!
What is PASH (Promoting Adolescent Sexual Health)?
Well, it’s fun, it’s funky and you learn a lot about sexuality, sexual health, life and yourself! It’s a healthy sexuality course based on sharing ideas and gaining self awareness. In a safe environment, participants get to explore their own attitudes and values around sexuality. As well as receiving accurate information about sexual health, they also learn the skills needed to be a peer educator.
Who is it for?
PASH is for young people aged 15 - 19 years who want to look after themselves and help their friends.
How does it work?
PASH is a peer education programme. It’s about young people educating other young people. Participants learn about sexual health and gain skills so that they can pass what they’ve learned on to their friends and peers.
Purpose of PASH
We hope that PASH will give young people the opportunity to avoid some of the serious problems surrounding unplanned pregnancies, unwanted sex, and the spread of STIs and HIV/AIDS. It is also about learning how to talk about these sort of things, how you sort out hassles, and what to do if you disagree. While PASH is not the whole answer, it’s certainly part of it. Studies show over and over that young people make wiser choices when they have reliable information and a supportive environment to talk about things in.
