School Education Sessions

FPWA Sexual Health Services has a skilled group of educators available to conduct student sessions on a wide range of issues. The sessions focus on different issues depending on the age of the group.

Lower Primary School sessions

Educators run sessions for Year 3 and 4 students on issues including the following:

  • Human reproduction, focusing on families
  • Self-esteem and body image
  • Discussion on the growth of babies
  • Friendships and differences
  • Protective behaviours

Upper Primary School sessions

Educators run sessions for Year 5 to 7 students on issues including the following:

  • Reproduction
  • Puberty
  • Self-esteem
  • Body image
  • Pregnancy
  • Birth
  • Protective behaviours
  • Friendships and feelings
  • Handling change

Secondary School sessions

Educators run sessions for Year 8 to 12 students on issues including the following:

  • Safe sex
  • STIs, BBV’s and HIV/AIDS
  • Unplanned pregnancy
  • Relationships and communication
  • Self-esteem and sexual decision making
  • The law and sexuality
  • Attitudes and values
  • Parenting and child sexual development
  • Gender issues
  • Adolescent health
  • Sexual preference
  • Sexual abuse and sexual assault
  • Abortion
  • Problem solving
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Sexual rights and responsibilities
  • Body image
  • Alcohol and drugs

All sessions are developed in consultation with individual schools and are designed to supplement students’ understanding of sexual and reproductive health.
