Our Staff
The Roe St Centre staff are highly qualified and experienced in individual, couple and family therapy. Some are approved infertility counsellors under the Human Reproductive Technology Act 1991. Male and female counsellors are available.
Roe St Centre has a high commitment to regular professional supervision, staff development and training.
Our Availability
Appointments are available from Monday to Saturday. We prefer clients to make their own appointments. Although a referral is not required, we welcome referrals from other health professionals. Our counselling sessions are of one hour duration.
Our Cost
We offer a subsidised service in order to make counselling available to as many people as possible, and fees are based on a sliding scale according to income. We request payment be made at the time of appointment.
Sessions on unplanned pregnancy and post termination issues attract a different fee structure. These sessions are subsidised by the Department of Health WA and people can access up to four free sessions for a client administration fee of $15.00 (this fee does not apply if you have paid the annual clinic administration fee).
If you have any questions about fees please phone 9228 3693.
Telephone Counselling
Telephone counselling is available for rural, remote or outer metropolitan areas. The privacy of telephone counselling may be particularly appealing for those living in small communities who want anonymity. Telephone counselling may also benefit those who are housebound. Clients need to book an appointment by phoning 9228 3693 and will be charged for the cost of the counselling. Costs may be negotiated in cases of genuine hardship.
Our Assurance
Confidentiality and privacy are respected at all times.
Relationships
Relationship counselling at the Roe St Centre includes, but is not confined to, married couples. Our counsellors are experienced in helping people in defacto relationships, gay and lesbian couples and families (ie parents and children) deal with their relationship issues.
Unplanned Pregnancy
Counselling for individuals or couples who are dealing with an unplanned pregnancy is given priority at the Roe St Centre. It is standard policy at the Centre that if an appointment is not available when you call, a client support staff member will be in contact within 24 hours aiming to arrange an appointment with you within one week.
Roe St Centre requests that your pregnancy be confirmed by a medical practitioner before you make an appointment for counselling, in order for the gestation period to be determined.
Your counsellor will explore all of the options available when an unplanned pregnancy occurs. He/she will help you to make a decision which best suits your situation.
The three choices available when faced with an unplanned pregnancy are:
-
Continue the pregnancy and raise your child
-
Continue the pregnancy and place your child for adoption
-
End the pregnancy (have an abortion or termination)
