Clinical Services

FPWA provides clinical services to both men and women.  Referrals are not required. Phone 08 9227 6177 to make an appointment at our main clinic conveniently situated in Northbridge (please note appointments cannot be made by email).  

Services

Doctors and advanced practice nurses are available by appointment for confidential consultations on sexual health issues such as:

  • Sexually transmissible infections (STI) testing and treatment. This can include testing for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B
  • Contraception, including IUD insertion and removal, Implanon insertion and removal, diaphragm fitting, NuvaRing and all varieties of oral contraception
  • Pap smears and HPV testing
  • Abortion information and referral
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Planned/unplanned pregnancy information
  • Gardasil and hepatitis immunisation
  • Sexual difficulties
  • PMT/period problems
  • Menopause
  • Fertility

FPWA’s Quarry Health Centre in Fremantle provides sexual health services for under 25s, though young people are welcome to attend the Northbridge clinic if it is more convenient.

As FPWA clinics have an important role in training doctors and nurses in sexual health, there may be two doctors/nurses present at your consultation. One will be a qualified nurse or doctor doing further training, with the second supervising them.

Costs

FPWA is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation. For Northbridge and Fremantle clinics the annual client contribution fee of $30 ($15 concession) FPWA Clinical Servicesis payable and entitles you to unlimited clinic visits.

Pathology is free if you have a current Medicare card. If you don't have a Medicare card please ask staff about the cost and the procedure for payment.  

Condoms and lubricant are available over the counter at low prices. Most methods of contraception are also available at reasonable rates.
